Seine-r Containers in the Saner Container

Containers provide onsite office space at the Notre Dame Restoration

Our blog, the Saner Container, goes to Paris today with pictures of containers along the Seine! Mom jokes are a thing, right? We were in Paris for a few days this fall. On a boat trip along the Seine, we could not get over how many containers we saw! After 20 years of being in the containers, I routinely take pictures wherever I spot them. As other tourists were taking pictures of the sites, my husband and I were framing up all the containers we saw. I know, we are so romantic! It was a great showcase of how containers make the ideal building blocks in so many situations from cafes to internationally renowned restoration projects.

The Seine has a wonderful quay along it which makes it great for walking and biking. In the summer, the city even brings in sand so that city-dwellers can enjoy a beach along the river. Permanent structures seem to be not allowed. Containers are a perfect solution. Containers provide a great spot for the kitchen and storage. They can be outfitted with a concession window for walk-up service. Easy lock-up at night provides great security.

We saw a concession stand all set up with easy access. Also, easy for employees to close up at night.

As we went by Notre Dame, they had a large building made of containers made onsite. It is not hard to imagine that such a complicated project will take so much collaboration to restore it. Clearly experts in a variety of fields will be needed onsite for years to work together.

Here are the pictures we took. Enjoy!
